Our origins
Hotel Convento del Giraldo**** takes its name to the Giraldo Tower, which was part of the cathedral complex. The tower was a stunning emblazoned construction dating from the Seventeenth century built by the Martínez Kleiser family. Halfway through last century, it abandoned its civilian nature to become the Foundational House of the Zelatrix Sisters.
Respect for tradition
It was a huge challenge to turn the most majestic and emblematic building in the old town into a space where the city’s visitors could feel embraced by history without renouncing to 21st-century commodities. The work was done with care and respect. Now, after a complete renovation, the building stands with all of its splendour, achieving an evocative atmosphere thanks to the perfect combination of a modern decoration and stunning recovered architectonic elements, such as a medieval fountain and its piping system, a water cistern and different coffered ceilings.
